Some beginners have found this piece rather challenging, so I want to take an additional moment to explain my approach with this assignment.

First, my goal in every first piano lesson is to get the student playing piano. When I teach them a piece like this, it's a co-creative experience and we invent the piece together in the classroom.

Second, the sheet music makes the piece look very intimidating. I do not expect you to learn how to read music this week - that's something we'll go much more into depth on later. For this reason, I've included the "letters only" version of this piece, as our goal is getting the hang of keyboard geography.

Our goal this week isn't perfection, but rather getting in the sandbox and getting messy - in other words, playing music, right from the get-go.
